Leo Season

Leo Season begins on the 23rd of July, ooh la la!

The key words for Leo are “I create” and with the Sun being the ruler of Leo, that makes a lot of sense. In the past I’ve seen Leo as the male lion, Leo the Lion and how he struts about protecting his Pride (family) and has to be the best, of course, to fight off other want to be Pride leaders. Never admitting that he’s hurt or stressed. I like lions, they’re amazing, but today I see Leo a little differently.

As I mentioned the Sun is the ruler of Leo and if we look at the Sun’s position in our solar system, Leo makes more sense. The Sun is the centre of our Universe, and people with Leo in their chart like to be the centre of attention. Like the planets revolve around the Sun, Leo people may have friends or colleagues, employees or the community revolving around them.

Like the Sun, Leo people glow and are radiant, they like to light people up! They are warm and loving and very protective of their loved ones. Our Sun is the biggest and brightest celestial body in our Universe, it’s different to the rest of the planets and Leo people like to be different as well, they like to be the best and to shine the brightest, shining their light wherever they go.

Leo people have this innate need or desire to share their light, deep within them they know their love and light is grand, therefore they desire attention and recognition within groups of people. These people are loyal, steadfast and confident and they make good leaders, you know, just like the Sun out there that we look up to everyday.

Leo is a fixed sign so it doesn’t like change and can be a tad stubborn, unless they are making the changes themselves. These people are very generous and love the feeling of giving and how it lights up the person receiving. Sometimes, depending on the strength of Leo in a chart, the giving can be to enhance their own image and perception of others upon them. When relating the Sun to the Leo traits, we can see how these people would be admired by many, winning hearts and admiration because of their warmth and sunny personality.

They are enthusiastic and work hard to achieve the results they desire. Their appearance and how people perceive them is very important to people with Leo in their chart and this can be found in different areas of life depending on which House Leo falls within their birth chart. For example if they have Leo in House 2, they must appear to be in a strong financial position, House 6 needs to be very healthy. If this is not the case, you can see them becoming anxious about it and fear the judgment of others for not being on top of the situation. But it’s ok, you can relax. I think you’ll find you judge yourself more than others do. We just appreciate your warmth and kindness.

As always, there is the raw and refined aspects to the qualities of any sign and Leo is no different, although it wants to be! It can go to the extreme to be the best or hide their troubles from their loved ones with disastrous outcomes. Leo people will tell you that everything in their life is super, but in reality, they're struggling which is sad, but a lesson the Leo energy needs to learn, to open up and receive support.

Strong Leo or a naïve Leo can need to be the centre of attention at all costs, it can also become tyrannical and very arrogant, self absorbed and believe the world revolves around them. If the attention doesn’t come, they have a tendency to create drama to get it! Every sign and every planet has polar opposites, and sometimes both are required for one reason or another.

Leo also rules the heart and as you would think, Leo people are vey loving and like the Sun, very creative and talented, and when we are in Leo season, we can expect love and romance to be highlighted. We may become very creative or want to express our joy and love in a way we wouldn’t normally think of.

We don’t need to have any planets or points to experience these Leo energies as the transiting planets influence the energy of the sign its passing through and at the moment, it’s the Sun highlighting for us the energies of Leo.
