Winter Solstice and Cancer Season

Hello there, thanks for taking the time to read my posts! I hope they help you to navigate your life with a little more understanding of what’s going on or perhaps a different perspective that helps.

On the 21st of June the Sun moves into Cancer and begins Cancer season, plus it’s the Winter Solstice for us in the Southern Hemisphere, where we have the shortest day of the year because of the earth’s axis.

This can be a beautiful time of year to snuggle up by the fire with a bowl of warm nutritious soup that you’ve made with love. It’s a time where nature slows down as it’s time to go within to rejuvenate the body and soul. But life isn’t like that if you have a young family and working full time, then it becomes frosty early morning starts in the dark and returning home in the dark, possibly with half an hour of actual daylight if you work in an office.

The good news is that from today the daylight hours increase by about 2 minutes each day. We’ve reached the middle of the year, the shortest darkest day so it’s going to get lighter and brighter from here.

Cancer is a cardinal zodiac sign because it marks the beginning of a season, whereas we go by the calendar, not the earth’s natural calendar of cycles, which is another way of programming us away from reality.

Cancer season brings the energy back to the family and home which is why I think we are fortunate to have winter during Cancer season as it’s about nurturing, warm loving care and kindness, cuddles and beautiful food created with love to warm the body and to slow down a little with a good movie or a good book.

This year we have the benefit of Jupiter being in Cancer at 2 degrees, increasing the energy signature of Cancer which could have you cooking more extravagantly and eating more. Jupiter can have you wanting to beautify your home or expanding projects related to your home. It can also have you thinking about the past, big time. But the Sun and Jupiter are working with Saturn and Neptune in Aries at 1 and 2 degrees, bringing in self-discipline while dreaming about that chocolate pudding or the smell of a freshly baked loaf of bread, but you don’t eat bread anymore!

These are simple scenarios that you can apply to what’s going on for you because it will depend on which House the first 2 degrees of Cancer and Aries are within your own birth chart. Aries is also a cardinal sign, which heralds a time of adjustment and new beginnings in both areas of your chart. Aries relates to yourself, and Cancer relates to the family.
